Car Audio System - A Great Addition to Any Car

Car audio systems are a great addition to any car. AM/FM Radio, Tape/Deck combo all have become obsolete. Nowadays multimedia systems have taken their place and these systems include CD/DVD audio & video & mp3 players, television and navigation system, etc.

Generally, the sound quality of an audio system depends on some factors like type & quality of media players or speakers, acoustics of a car and interference of other devices.

Let's know more about these factors in detail:-

Type & Quality of Media Players:-

There are two main specifications to be considered while comparing different models for sound quality. These are:-

Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)
It is measured in decibels. The higher the dB, the higher is the sound quality. In a car CD player the SNR ranges from 90dB to 100dB.

Frequency Response (FR)
It is used to measure the audio spectrum and it is measured in Hertz (Hz). Look for at least 10-20 kHz FR when buying a car CD player.

CD Players & Changers:-
Many types of CD changers are available on the market. You can choose one according to your desire. The following are the most popular CD players and changers.

In-dash CD Player - This type of CD player comes in the combination with radio tuner, WMA/MP3 player.

In-dash CD Receiver - This comes with multiple CD Cassettes/Changers.
Another option is to connect a portable CD player with existing audio system by using a cable or blue tooth

Car Speaker Systems:- It is divided into two parts:

channel amplifier
physical speaker units

The channel amplifier amplifies the output sound and provides you with a clear-cut sound with high volume. In this advanced amplifier technology is used. It can be configured to up to 7 channels which means you can connect 7 speakers to it.

Speakers are classified according to the frequency.

Car Sub-Woofers
If you want to listen the music in the high volume, then you should use a sub-woofer. Sub-woofers are enclosed in a box made up of wood and installed on the rear trunk of the car. Remember that overloaded bass can damage your ear drums so tune the sound volume accordingly.
